Converting a transparent PNG to JPG
A transparent PNG converted to JPG needs a colour behind the empty areas. Prepared well, the result stays clean; prepared badly, it lands on black or with dirty edges.

Why transparency disappears
JPG has no alpha channel: every pixel needs an opaque colour. The converter must decide what sits behind the transparent areas — that is the job of the background.
Convert nowAvoiding the unexpected black background
Many tools leave black as the default, which produces a dark, unusable image. Here the default background is white, it is visible in the preview and it can be changed before downloading.
Choosing the right colour
- White background: documents, light websites, print.
- Black background: dark visuals, thumbnails on a dark interface.
- Custom colour: match the exact tone of the page or the destination.
Semi-transparent edges, shadows and antialiased text
Partially transparent pixels are blended with the background colour rather than replaced abruptly. A soft drop shadow stays soft, and an antialiased text edge keeps a gradual transition.
A background far from the original context still makes those edges visible. That is exactly what the comparison preview lets you check before downloading.
Check before downloading
The preview shows the original and the converted JPG with their real dimensions and sizes. If a pale halo appears around a logo, change the background colour before touching quality.
